>>317693>>317503 Here again dude.Should've been a bit clearer, by diamond file I meant a diamond sharpening rod. Get the Retractable sort that store in their own handle. That's what I take with me in case I need to touch anything up in the field. Also what I use for honing my kuk. For working on things at home you want a double sided whetstone. Mine came from the local hardwear place. No need for expensive brand names when it comes to these.
>BladeMedicNoNoNoNoNo! Disregard any kind of sharpener where you just drop your blade in it and drag it back. That shit is sacrilege. Double sided stone and don't forget to strop it!
>>317698IKR. The Lansky puck doesn't give you anything to grip when you're using it. Good concept but badly designed. I settled on a Norton JB74 (pic related) for use on my axes. Much more comfortable and far safer. Would recommend.
>>317700Start paying more attention to maintaining your blades mate. Check them every time you use them and fix anything that needs it right away. Don't wait until it's blunt and beaten before you sharpen it again. Keep it in good order and it will serve you better. Plus, it's a lot less work to keep a blade sharp than it is to get it sharp again once you've knackered it. A blade should be SHARPENED once when it's made and then HONED for the rest of its life.
