I would like to mention generally, if you arent a resident of that state you are gonna be spending a couple hundred bucks on licenses. I've done hunting in Texas (AR native) and i paid over $200 for a license there. Read the regulations to avoid getting raped by a warden.
If you plan on hunting deer during modern gun set up feeders a few months ahead of time. You can get an on demand one for under $20 or build some sort of troth yourself. Corn prices are relatively high right now so I dunno what your funds are. Rice bran is also a good choice. Its like cocaine for deer/hogs. If your gonna sit on a stand for modern gun: GO THE FIRST DAY! After that your chances are gonna go way down because every bubba South of the mason-dixon line is gonna take shots on deer that day. Once the fireworks start they get really skiddish.
You should try ducks later on. Thats where the real fun is.
