Hello mates, first of probably many posts here since I just (indirectly) got some land.
It's a bunch of poor soil, heavily coniferous acres that I'd like to make into literally anything else. Prairie, native deciduous forest, orchard, garden, solar, whatever.
How do I get started rehabilitating this land? I heard that the wood chips, pine needles and pinecones all release chemicals that prevent other plants from growing, how do I grow despite that? Any good cover crops to consider at first that don't care?
