>>2172188I got off route in a scramble in the Cascades last month, me and a buddy were picking our way around a steep slope that was all wet rock and snowfields trying to figure out where we needed to go. We were traversing a steep snowfield when the steps I had kicked collapsed and I had to self arrest with my ice axe. Proper life or death situation. Took a minute or two to recover psychologically and at that point we both decided it was time to get the fuck off the mountain.
