The gods are based on the natural land, and when you get further away from them then their influence becomes less. If you're a Germanic Continental Pagan then your best chance of contacting the gods is in a forest or on a mountain. If you're in a city you will have worse luck, and further away from Germany you get the less the gods will be able to contact you, until their influence becomes non-existent.
