I was going to start my own thread with my question, but this seems like the relevant thread.
Can anyone recommend, advise (with experiences?) or compare the two boots in pic related? Salomon and Merrell.
I want winter shoes/boots that are waterproof-ish (I know, if you step in a deep puddle...), warm, snow/ice hardy, and aren't going to fall apart in a year. I've kinda narrowed it down to two main options thus far. What do you think?
I am use to cold temps and snow/ice from where I grew up, so I'm not a 'real winter' newb at all. But where I live now, winters are cold and wet, but rarely snowy. So I haven't had a need for proper winter footwear in a while. I do hike and such in the winter when I can, and I bike every day, so I'll get use out of them besides just deep snow.
Also, I will be going to northern Finland for a few weeks vacation in February, and I want to have some good boots already broken in by then.
Both shoes are 180 euro-shekels (Yürofag here) form their online shops. I'll probably check out my local outdoor stores to actually try them on and buy them if possible, though. (I live in a smallish town, the nearest good outdoor store is the next town over, so I'll try on the weekend.)
Thanks.
