>>2232160I remember going on my first rabbit hunt one winter when I was young. My dad told me beforehand about how important it is to respect the kill. He told me how when natives kill an animal with reverence for it and the Earth.
He said when they make a kill, they take a moment of silence to thank the animal, thank the Earth, and thank God for the meat. He also really ingrained in me how important it was to make use of every part of the animal so that it did not die in vain.
I remember my first kill did really quiet me down and make me think for a while, but I was able to understand it as a part of nature and respect what the animal gave to me.
