People can yap all they want about muh trail shoes but that 100% tells me they've never been /out/ in challenging conditions.
Being in the British Army might as well be a synonym for being permanently damp and muddy - there's a reason we only use leather, high ankled, goretex boots. All the guys with Salomon etc. are either hi-speed guys with soft hands or REMF lizards.
