"Dual sport" is a broad term encompassing everything from a barely-street-legal dirt bike to the big liter+ adventure bikes.
There's a lot of inbetweens - big-bore thumper like a KTM 525/530...
...or heavier desert bikes like the XR650...
...KLR650 is more road-friendly but still dirt-capable, with more luggage options...
...Moving up from there into the twin-cylinder engines are the VStrom 650's and BMW F600/F800GS...
...more displacement and you get the VStrom 1000, KTM 950/990, BMW R1200GS...
Bikes aren't like cars; you do have to maintain them. Learn how to do it yourself, it's not hard with basic tools and some bench space. Moto mechanics are a *LOT* more expensive than car mechanics.
This beast needs some TLC... top-end, clean out the bottom end, replace seals/bushings, a bunch of small parts, and a good scrub top to bottom.
