Since in a sleeping bag your pad provides the insulation, the back of the sleeping bag isn't doing very much. Your weight compresses the insulation anyways. A camping quilt takes away all that excess weight, without losing any warmth.
I use Jacks r better quilts, pic related. Quilts are especially popular for a hammock (which I use).
