>>2126707>>2126868doing more digging i found out it was from a four-lined plant bug that's usually attracted to mint, which probably explained things since i had my mint nearby in a container. did some looking around and actually saw a few in the morning by the mint plants.
i moved the mint over by itself and pruned the basil down, new leaves are emerging very healthy.
i read the bugs typically dont attack basil but will attack anything nearby basically, so hopefully that solves things.
