It's 1/8'' thick, O1 tool steel, great ergonomics, very good slicer, not heavy, but very durable.
As a "do everything" outdoor knife it's great.
As for being a "survival" knife, and going with "the best survival knife is the one you have", I'll grant you that something like pic related, that is more convenient for edc would make a better "emergency survival" knife.
I only carry the JX2 when I go innawoods, and it holds up beautifully. Try one if you get a chance.
