On the advice of some previous anons, I though that while max and min weight will change over time. I can still observe how much weight is lost from day to day and plot an equilibrium based on that. So I have a decent idea of how much water will be lost on any given one day and replace it daily.
Aside from root rot and the worry of too much water, this would give the most consistent most conditions for the plant to get all the water it would ever need.
The container has drainage holes at the bottom and there is airflow at the bottom and top. The added water never actually makes pour out of the drain holes if "light watering" is used.
Should be safe and good, right?
