The MSR Whisperlite has more heat for a fry pan, can be turned down a bit for simmering, plus you get a long burn time. Another advantage of a white gas stove is that gasoline has more energy per volume than alcohol.
I only use the alcohol stove because of it's lightness, lack of noise (the MSR makes a nice loud hiss) and simplicity. When camping or backpacking by myself I am rehydrating stuff like freeze-dried meals, ramen, instant oatmeal, tea, freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, etc., no bacon or eggs or pancakes or canned stuff. All I need to do is boils some water and pour it into what I want to eat or drink. Maybe boring, but I don't like to carry soap, wash dishes, etc. High speed and light weight.
