>>1568851That which is possible in theory is impossible if the point by which we’ll need to have made a full transition from reliance on fossil fuels arrives before such solutions can be discovered, tested, and developed, let alone fully implemented and integrated into EVERYTHING. There is nothing about our economy that absolutely needs fossil fuels? There is EVERYTHING since the advent of the industrial revolution because it’s the only system that heretofore has been tried. All materia science, energy production, agriculture- every basic assumption about how society works is predicated upon abundant fossil fuels as an assumption. Some clean or even bumpy transition from that paradigm to a renewable-based one is not possible. Renewables as we know them and will ever be known are a misallocation of the dwindling resources we have left in the pursuit of good tummy feelings and in a vain attempt at extending this anomalous and spiritually degrading blip of eflourescence in humanity’s history. The only thing we can hope to do in the face of the incoming corrective contraction is to minimize its impact through voluntary deceleration which is rendered impossible by the lack of imediate incentives therefore and our lack of will to impose such a state by force if necessary. Right now, humanity is a toddler hopped up on morphine so that it doesn’t care that it’s being slowly consumed by the maw of a Chinese escalator.
