I went snowboarding once with some rented gear. First descent and I was constantly falling on my ass. Crouching lowered my center of gravity and helped staying up, but it also meant I was now going faster. Halfway down the slope on me second descent, I seemed to be heading straight for a tree about 50 feet away. Tried turning and the edge of the nose of the board instantly carved in the hard snow. It kinda sprung and shot me straight up in the air. Landed on my neck face first with my heels over my head, the edge of the board hitting the top of my head and cutting my scalp. My spine had bent at my solar plexus. Knocked the wind out of time and I laid there for a solid 10 min. I was pretty flexible and athletic but to this day I still feel it when bad weather is about to come. Should have bothered to see a doctor but whatever it was a while ago. Later learned that what I did was called a scorpion tail.
Anyway, I’m looking for advice in choosing cross country equipment thanks
