Between them and the Lanternflies, the whole summer for me is shooting them off trees and killing them in any way I can. I think I'm buying a bug-a-salt and shooting the clumps of them in the trees while I'm out. Maybe I can get good with my slingshot, too. They leave egg masses, which are white or tan and flat, on trees. Scrape them off and put them in a bag with alcohol, or burn them. You can see some of the egg masses in this picture. The young ones are black with red or white markings.
