Keep the arrow length the same. If you're shooting off the shelf you need a spine that has a bit of wobble and flex to it, which it sounds like those cedar arrows don't have. All mine are 500 spine which is a good mid-point for compound and recurve, but if you're just shooting off the shelf I would go for a 600. That's why they aren't flying straight, too stiff. Google "archers paradox". Did you start out using cedar? Do you have any cheap fiberglass arrows?
