They're legit. I swear by them now. Only carry a tiny spare regular flashlight as backup. LEDs and lithium battery technology now allows them to be extremely compact and lightweight, and with insane light output if/when you want it. Also obviously it will always be pointing in the direction you're facing, and free up both your hands. Great for hiking or doing camp chores in the dark. I need it most though because I head out fishing in predawn hours when it's totally dark and I'm loading/launching my canoe.or drilling holes in the ice...need my hands and to see what I'm doing. Without it I have to hold a flashlight in my mouth which gets very annoying after 5-10 mins.
