These are the bare minimum things I would take innawoods besides food and water. Just buy some mountain house meals or MREs. Some way to carry water that doesnt weigh a metric ton (SmartWater bottle or hydro bladder). You dont need boots in most terrain or weather. Trail runners are more versatile/practical. As a leaf I assume you know how to dress for the cold. Some kind of rain jacket or poncho, doesnt need to be fancy. A couple bics and a ferro rod ($10 for 2 on Amazon). A hat and maybe a cheap tarp. Thats basically it for almost every /out/ situation.
