Mac has imageio libraries baked into the OS, which means it can handle a raw file just as easily as a jpeg. Outside of Nikon's tools (or Photoshop, which I'd rather not install on either win box) I haven't found a free or inexpensive editor that'll even open a raw/nef file.
Windows movie maker works, but that's about all I can say about it.
Irfanview's a decent tool for resizing/cropping images.
Couple buddies like gopro's editing software, might give that a try.
