>I always heard they are really intelligent/active dogs. what are they like irl? She's so smart it's like I have a 3 year old child walking around my house and they're really eager to please if you train them correctly. If you keep them healthy they can live to be 16. She's almost 11 but I've given here regular exercise and healthy food so she still acts and runs like a puppy. When I meet other people with dogs out on the trail they're always shocked when I tell them her age. In her prime she was way faster than most other dogs.
>how do they deal with bad weather?Poodles are so cold-hearty that they've been used in the Alaskan Iditarod trail race for years. Even at her old age, I can take her out snowshoeing or something like that, and she'll be comfortable in the cold for hours. As they get older of course this decreases. Generally they don't handle heat well and you really have to keep an eye on them in the summer because they can get heatstroke very easily, so don't get one if you live in a warm region. That's really their only weak point. Rain, snow, wind, cold water, and thunderstorms, they can handle it. If you can learn to manage their high strung personalities that comes with being a very intelligent breed then they're god tier /out/ doggos.
