My first and only wild camp so far in the lake district, i started hiking from braithwaite and planned a route on the map to get to red tarn at helvellyn which was very ambitious as my route was not direct. i ended up missing a bend in the route after the 2nd peak south of catbells (i forget the name) which would have taken me to Rosthwaite where i was going to walk up to Watendlath tarn (pic related). i trekked off the path and went through marshy bog then eventually ended up down at honnister slate mine there are miserably suffered through walking down honnister path north on the side of the road with a 13kg rucksack full of shit i didnt need eventually i got to Rosthwaite which took forever then i dragged myself up to Watendlath tarn in the exceptionally hot summer without any water or food beside dinner left. i then sat for about hour and just pottered around then i realised it was going to be dark soon and eventually there was no one else around and i spotted the local farmer driving his quadbike down the side of the hill which was has the high seat peak on it with many dogs running behing and on the bike. i decided it would be good to sleep on top of there so i walked up the tracks. after gaining altitude and dropping a tab of acid i set up my 20 year old bivy bag my dad gave which i could hardly fit in with my sleeping bag and childs size sleepingpad and began to eat my stale ham sandwhiches (dinner). Here i lay on a stone stained with sheep shit listening to sgt peppers and looking down at the landscape particularly the tarn while tripping. i got into the bag quite early before it had started to get really dark and lay on my back arms by myside but as i was tripping my mind wouldnt stop so but i eventually slept and woke up around 2 hours later in the same position with water dripping onto my face the sound of the wind loosening my guy lines and the bag flapping around i placed a tarp under the bivy because i knew it wasnt waterproof but this
