This was in Delaware, and if you're from around here you'll know that there were horrible rainstorms the last few days, so everything was saturated. I planned for this and brought a charcoal grill starter. It works excellent for starting a fire, even when your wood is wet. I would not have brought this if I was not car camping. I probably wouldn't have had a fire either.
