Maybe some of you will enjoy reading my story.
First time i set foot on a sailboat was for a day sail with a friend, soon i got back to the dock shit was clear in my mind, i need a boat and fast. Went back to work (drilling in alberta) and saved 10 k and bought myself a tanzer 7.5 (25 feet) to sail in the bay where i am from. Of course a had pretty much zero experience so i did learn to sail by myself and i did pay the price, got scared few time, destroyed few sails lost my outboard ( had safety rope) etc etc. Every season i was gaining experience and i was pushing my zone of comfort a bit further and further. The last year i had the boat i manage to find a friend who was willing to come with me and go for a nice trip, took us 30 days to sail from the gaspe shore to the bras dor lake in cape breton island and back. To get there we never used the engine but only sail, looking back it took us forever but we had a blast and i did learn a lot more on that trip.
