This is in the South Island of NZ btw. So at any stage I can avoid most ppl who are likely to go north and south towards civilisation by avoiding main roads and aiming west for the mountains. (I'm allowed to bring my map right? dem pokemans is only so bulky).
My Utilitarian ethics may get the better of me, so I may look up the local news phone numbers to call while I drive around the runways of the local airport in Jeep. NZ is already stupidly isolated for a global pandemic, so I might even save millions of lives by preventing some flights to Beijing or something. Will swap Jeep for Landrover or fucking anything with better mileage at the earliest opportunity. A Jeep is a luxury vehicle in NZ and worth much bank. There are many 4WDs around that could carry me to safety.
If I'm not prevented from driving through the fence of my choice and bailing, or if I just panic; I'll ram-raid a gun shop for extra hiking supplies on the way to the mountains and eat fern roots and cabbage tree hearts with my wild pig and venison, pushing north until the karaka seeds mature in late summer and I can lay in a store of carbs for the future months. They're poisonous when raw, so fuck yea horticulture
Oh, yeah. And I'll start my first fire with the $66. Our dollar bills are plastic, so they should make good tinder on a wet day.
