Western Red Cedar. It had more volume then the largest Douglas Fir. This tree I saw in its last year of its extraordinarily long life. It was a short trail on the north shore of Lake Quinault in WA state. A rainforest that received over 100 inches of rain a year. I took my roomates to it on horrendously cold and wet July day, we walked around the tree and looked up at it’s bleached bark. The next year, (2018) I took my girlfriend to it, as we were approaching I noticed an odd amount of light. The tree had fallen over , probably in a winter storm. The shattered pile of western red cedar wood that went off inter the flattened wood could have shingled hundreds of roofs, it was amazing.
