And yarp, fishing gear is damn expensive here thus I hardly ever buy anything not heavily discounted. Even the usual sale-prices are higher than the RRP (in USD).
If only I had a room with space for tools and such I would be making all my lures myself. Maybe even sell some. Especially the prices people pay for handmade jerkbaits is crazy (50+ USD easily).

Thus if you plan for an UL setup, go with a spinning reel.Round baitcasters are also often built like tanks and have no problems (relatively speaking) with big saltwater fish like tuna, marlin, shark etc.
And a picture to end this rambling post. A small sea scorpion (Myoxocephalus scorpius) which brings my tally to nine different species caught this calender year. My goal is to bring it to ten species. Just one species to go...
