>>2108400I planned on doing a thru-hike, but it was really expensive to get a ride back to my car. What I ended up doing was parking my car at Monadnock HQ, hiked to Washington, had a burger at the general store, camped there, went back to the store for a big breakfast in the morning, and then hiked back. It cost $16 to park at Monadnock, but I was okay with that. At least I knew the car was safe. If you wanted to skip Monadnock you could park at the dublin trailhead. It would be cheaper and you could still do Monadnock at the end of your hike if you wanted to. I had to do it twice. Which was fine, but I thought it might be better in the future to park at the dublin trailhead, do the hike and then throw my gear in the car and hit Monadnock at the end.
Another option is parking in Washington and doing an out and back on the northern section to Sunapee. I was told there is plenty of parking. Just check with the general store and they'll hook you up. The section between Washington and Sunapee is supposed to be the best. I'm going to do it this fall.
