My kid is 7.5 years old, and she wants a jackknife. She did a week of day camp this summer where she was in the woods learning about survival stuff and playing in the mud.
I feel like a single blade that locks would be the way to go. I had a little pen knife as a kid without locking blades and I didn't really dig it. Had a couple Swiss knives that were okay (they were a bit bigger), but my fave knife when I was younger was a locking swiss knife. But I was 14 by then.
Anyone have kids? Have you done the first knife? What did you learn?
