>>1249148Good to know, thanks!
>>1249124Cut it back further and place an in-ground barrier. Don't let something like still liquid concrete touch the roots. There's a chance that could kill it. A line of some paving stones set on end, slide into a trench then covered over with 1/2" of soil will probably work well. Just overlap them, like in this pic.
>>1249131>is it worth a try?Of course!
>What crops should i grow for my first try? What do you want to eat or look at? Try growing that. If a cultivar is too sensitive to strong sunlight, you can erect a shade screen over it to protect it. That screen can be other taller plants or vines. Leafy greens for salad, potherbs, or stir fry are always easy to do in most locations.
>>1249287I think it will be difficult due to the fact that apple seeds are all open pollinated hybrids. I have a bag of Red Delicious apples from the store. Their seeds are starting to sprout inside the apples. The trees from these will be Red Delicious X "something". It depends on what pollinating trees the orchard has been using. If it is anything like the one I grew from seed 25 years or so ago it will be perfect as root stock (and absolutely terrible if allowed to grow as a tree.)
