>>1381593>duffis the stuff you find on the forest floor. Pine needles, dead leaves, old bracken etc. It's actually really comfy and warm. The trouble is the ground is a heat magnet. If you sleep on the bare ground it doesn't matter how warm your sleeping bag is you'll get cold.
>CCFClose Cell Foam. It's just a type of foam. The cells in the foam are close so they don't absorb water.
>Z restIt's just a model of CCF mat. They are comfy, warm, and are concertina. The normal mats you roll up will always want to roll back up which is a massive pain in the arse IMO. Pic related.
>If it makes anyone happy to get gearSure but gear fagging is a really easy trap to fall into, especially if you are just getting into out. You want to make the relationship one where you find you love being out so you want to get something to try something new. Rather than going out to justify your purchases. I've met a lot of people who genuinely don't seem to like being out but they love the gear.
>outside in winterwinter does require more gear and knowledge otherwise it can be miserable. Nothing turns people off camping more than being cold and not sleeping well. A good mat and sleeping bag will avoid this.
