>whats skagitit's a super compact shooting head with an interchangeable tip that can be floating, slow sink, medium sink, or a fast sink, usually on a mono running line. it excells for swinging streamers, especially where there's not room for a back cast.
>i will also try swinging, will the polyleader help?yes, you will need the polyleader unless you intend to be skating dry flies. dont bother with that nonsense yet.
swinging is easy
>cast down and across stream>more across than down>mend upstream to create slack>let your fly and leader sink>eventually the line will drift down stream and come tight>you are now fishing>at the end of the swing, take a single step down stream and try againif you are hanging up on the bottom every cast, try a lighter fly and/or less mend
if it seems like you cant grab the bottom no matter how hard you mend, you need a heavier fly. you want to be presenting in the bottom 18 inches of water; near the bottom but not on it.
