>>2190866>It's true tomatoes will "ripen" from green if you leave them off the vine, but what gives them flavor is the sugars and other nutrients they get from the plant as it feeds and ripens the fruit itself.IIRC they also create sugars from the tomato itself, not the plant, getting sun. I'm not quite sure how it works, and I'm not going to act like I have any clue how it works, but I remember hearing about that.
