We go on little camping holidays throughout the year (great on a long weekend), we go hiking (their friends can't believe they climbed a mountain), I will pay for them to learn anything (I get them a few taster sessions before I commit because they sometimes want clothing/equipment more than they actually want to do things) and encourage them to go outside. Their "play" clothes are warm and decent but not anywhere as good as the things they take when we actually go /out/.
The only downside is that they insist on dressing like pic related until they get too cold and want videos of them doing fortnite dances the moment they get anywhere picturesque, but I guess that can't be avoided.
