It can be fun and give you a purpose and you get fresh air and exercise. You'll come across a lot of shit caches (not that kind). Just filter on more difficult ones as you get better.
I was the first to solve a 5 star a few years ago that went unsolved for half a year. It still brings me joy when I think about racing to the final location and opening it.
Most are like pic related around me and everything is soaked in water. There are good ones out there though.
