>>2239558Yes, in the sense that you have more government hoops to go through, but the process of getting a firearms license (PAL) is not that hard. You take a one day course, do a pretty simple standardized test and then you can own whatever firearm you want in the "non-restricted" category, which includes manually operated firearms and some autoloading ones. What's great is that you don't need to do get a background check for each firearm you buy in this category and it can be shipped right to your door, or picked up in person without delay. I highly recommend any Canadian who has even a vague feeling of one day wanting a firearm get it done ASAP. Some hunting organizations even offer the course for free to the public.
Also, we can own short-barrelled shotguns without any extra work, which is pretty good for LARPing in the woods.
