>>2433206>>2434768Ended up going to Snowdonia! Just returned. We rented a car and headed over. My brother saw this hill next to a dam. Private property but whatever. No paths the way up. But this was pretty fine. Jumped a few of the sheep fences/walls. What sucked was walking through a ton of huge ferns (some, face-high). At the top it was just a bunch of burnt plants with a few small shrubs; it looked like there was a very big fire there. We set up camp here, you can see where we were from pic rel, besides the bottom-right. It was good. We got up in the middle of the night to see the stars. Really stunning. You can see the glow of the rest of the world from the East, while the sky above us was dark save for the shining of stars. We saw this bigger hill (see bottom-left pic) and thought we'd try that.
In the morning, we went back to the car to drive around to this bigger hill. I left my pack in the car. There is a path that goes around the base (and, I think eventually goes to the top, but was too long for us), and is totally covered in sheep poo. Pic at bottom-right is where we started the ascent. We went up the right part and did have to scramble / cliimb up some rocks. And walking here kinda sucked because there's so many rocks/random pits, but they're absolutely covered in these shrubs, and you will find yourself knee-deep in some random hole, which may also have a bit of water in. Even without the weight of my pack, I was slipping and falling everywhere, on both the ascent, and the relevant parts of the descent where I wasn't just sliding on my ass (more on that next). Also I was wearing just sneakers and those are now totally busted. But even my brother in ankle-high boots got a foot wet.
