No luck out on the yak today. I got these new Redirig Instant Downrigger things though which are pretty slick. Let out 75-100 feet of line, clip on the device with a 2-3oz weight, let out another 20-30 feet and boom. Holds the line down at depth and if something hits the line, the weight snaps free and slides to the lure end. Really nice to be able to set an exact depth while trolling without having to install a full ass downrigger on the kayak.
Despite the fish being down there at 25 feet, not a bite. I can't figure out what they want. They're trout of some kind, or salmon. I've tried rapala minnows, big brass spoons, small colorful spoons, kastmasters, plastic shads, swim baits. I've got some lures coming that are 1/4 and 1/8 that are like tied flies but with more substance to them so they might work. We had a lot of rain this week and the water is full of debris so maybe the fish just aren't eating. Still, good test of the downrigger things and nice to see they work
