>>261783It's probably lame in some people's eyes but when I hit 30 I inherit 30gs. Thats actually not a lot of money at all these days, when my grandfather set it aside back then though it sure as hell was.
My wife is a Librarian and makes 70k a year(you need your masters to be a librarian wtf? lol). I'm an RMA about to get my RN which is great money. Thankfully she shares my dream of owning land.
I'm 26 now so I figure by the time I'm 30 we should have banked quite a large sum of cash. We never had much money at ALL before graduating school and like you OP. We dont need to splurge just because we can. It isnt being cheap, its literally just being used to the life we've lived since we were 19 lol. Shes my age too.
So back to your topic. I figure by the time I'm 30 that 30gs is explicitly for some land. Not to mention I have some life long friends who also want to compile a huge area of land when me and my wife are able. So if we have neighbors, they are our neighbors (some miles away mind you, i want my privacy).
Some areas in Maine you can get up to 30 acres to 30gs. Yes thats in the sticks, but that is what I want. We've found locations that the trip to Boston is only an hour and half drive. Since we already work in Boston as is. I do not mind what so ever an hour and half drive to live my dream. Not to mention an RN schedule is 3 days a week, double shifts then 4 days off. Plenty of time to enjoy myself, it also makes the drive not even an issue because its not like I drive in for a small shift, then have to lug my ass back home.
We both while young, feel old at heart. We want our kids to not rely on the internet, and actually get outside and have a real childhood like im sure most people at /out/ have had. Playing with bugs, falling down and scraping knees, and not on their fucking stupid iPad. I like technology, I just dont like it running my life.
It actually felt really good to type this out, thanks for the thread OP.
