i think there's a tendency to bring too much gear. i found that sticking to basics and improvising on the spot solves problems.
like i always forget a fucking coffee cup! wtf! (take 'em out to wash and forget to put back). i end up cutting the bottom off a water bottle or pulling something out of the trash.
A steak knife with a broken handle from a thrift store cuts apples as easily as a $80 tactical knife. Its easier to wash, and if you lose it, who cares.
