In the alps there are bivouak boxes for alpine emergencies. They're maintained by the alpine clubs, but hikers refill fresh water, and other supplies as well. I usually bring some tea bags and other small supplies when I know I will pass them to stock them up.
Is that how these huts work as well?
Also, I'm thinking about getting
