1. Top side of a (white) mulberry leaf is glossy, hairless and glandless.
2. The new growth noticeably zig-zags (=twig turns away from each leaf).
3. The mulberry leaf edges are serrated, each "tooth" has a vein reaching the edge of the leaf.
