Not sure if your interested in guns at all but their are plenty of cheap rifle scopes that have lasers, lights, mil dots, ranging reticles, bdc, and every adjustable knob you can think of. They break, they are in accurate, they have no repeatability.
Does it mean the knife or scope won't work? No. They can. They just can't compete with better steels, and better designs. You can have all the features you want, but when your knife. Can't cut because the edge is gone, the partial tang breaks, it rusts to shit then what good are the features?
