>>2227044Learn to adjust your straps properly
Unless you're some weird freakish shape, you can easily get all the weight on your hips using a sabre 45.
Pack it properly, adjust the straps properly, and there's no way your back will be fucked after a little tiny 3 hour hike.
I'm a lanky twat who doesn't get out nearly as much as I should but I'm telling you, a sabre 45 won't fuck your back. I can sit around for months then go on a week long trip without the sabre hurting my back.
Loosen the shoulder straps, tighten the belt. Make sure it's sitting on your hips, not too high. Then re tighten the shoulder straps until it lifts off of your waist a bit but not so much you start feeling it all on your back instead
If you still decide its not for you after all then fair enough, but your back hurting will definitely just be a strap adjustment fuckup
