>>1260860I got the paddler's hat. The features fit my use case perfectly.
I've had some Tilleys given to me for free, but this one I bought and I'd say it's worth it for something that will last so long.
I have a similar airflow to the one in your pic, with a really large back brim to protect the neck. I use it for work and look like a fool, but the sun protection is awesome and skin cancer sucks.
>>1262821I got a Blackrock down toque in the fall at like 50% off and I love it. Used it in -32 and it kept my head warm enough at moderate pace hiking.
It's warmer than a double layer acrylic toque, but not like leagues away.
The real difference is it packs so small and weighs like 1oz.
I will say, I've never had a nice wool toque to compare, but I use a wool dickie as a toque at times and that works well too. Wool just doesn't pack as well.
That said, it isn't really super necessary seeing as toques are fairly small anyways. I mostly got it so I can stuff it in my pocket easily, which I can't do with an acrylic toque.
I bring a toque on overnights all year. If it gets cold at night it's nice to throw one on and be toasty.
