Got a bit fed up with trying to fit everything in and not seeing a lot of what I do carry available to display. Plus I carry more shit than I can remember between my go bag, tool bag and vehicle anyway. Most of it can get get lost, be left behind or whatever. The essentials are in the pack, everything else is a luxury.
Presuming my vehicle makes it innawoods with me I'm basically set. It's a pickup with a cap and that takes care of shelter. Even without it I can stuff one of my tarpaulins in the go bag and I have enough rope and cordage to make it into a shelter. It's that time of year where it's only just starting to get a little cool at night and the days can still be baking hot. So long as I can keep dry I'm in good shape. And between firearms and fishing tackle I'll never go hungry. The smartphone full of field guides and portable solar panel ensure I can forage safely if Bambi isn't around or the bite isn't good.
And with a month to go and only two packs of smokes and a couple things of coffee it looks like I just might finally quit my nicotine and caffeine habits.
