>>1444840I've floated almost every river in Missouri. Prefer spring fed rivers. Anywhere from 2 days to 10 depending on the river. If you float rivers like these you need a wide low canoe with a smooth keel. Fiberglass or composite NEVER ALUMINUM. Canoes with a ridge down the middle of the keel from bow to stern are a no no as they will catch on rocks / trees and flip you. I've floated in floods, storms, lightyning etc... and could write a book on what I've learned. Lone trips are awesome but you had better be prepared for everything. One fuck up like getting into a strainer / hydraulic, rattle snake bite etc... is deadly. Most rivers I float are so remote there is no cell signal so you are truly on your own. I am a master diver as well as a former rescue recovery diver for the state so I am familiar with many situations. Flooded rivers were one of my greatest adventures. Man you can cover some miles in no time. My trips now are 12 -20 miles in 3 days camping and fishing. I'll throw out a few pics to verify. Since I started in the early 80's most trips are just memories and fireside stories. I didnt take pictures then because theres was no FB and other bullshit to brag to. Not bragging now, glad to help out
