Live in Canada. Nobody has handguns at all. They incredibly few that do are so fucking restricted to where and when they can take them. I live in a rural town in Northern Ontario, however quite a few people own hunting firearms. I myself own quite a few. They few times I actually do go out hunting, it's not for the joy of killing something like most anti-hunters seem to think. It's for the sole purpose of eating everything that I take, and not being wasteful. Have had many friends of mine when I was in Fish and Wildlife Conservation try to give me shit for going hunting, and killing things. I asked them if they ate meat and they would respond with "yeah so what." I find these are the worst kind of people, have no problem with eating another animals flesh but want to stay ignorant to the fact that the animals they are eating live a much more painful life and death than the ones I shoot instantly, as little as that occurs.
Sorry for the rant I just know many people on here re-act badly to hunters.
Long story short I always bring a shotgun with me into the bush if im travelling by any means other than a vehicle. Always have a shot gun slung over my back for the sole purpose of running into a bear. If we were to stumble upon each other I can fire a warning shot to scare him off. If he wants to tangle than unfortunately the bear's life ends before mind if I have anything to say about it.
Also the forest is so vast up here, I go out for miles in trails and never see another person.
