>>2090672The socks I've only worn on one walk around the neighborhood thus far, but I think if you're going to commit to barefoot running they should be great. I've tried Xero sandals for running and the worst part of that is the curling if you hit the edge of the sole against the ground and curl it away from your foot. You can of course also get pebbles and sticks in between your foot and the sole. The Skinner Sock neatly eliminates both problems because it is contoured to your foot and totally sealed up to the ankle. That also means you don't have the "lift" problem with needing to pull your toes up to lift the toe of your sandal, the sock is always right around your toes.
Strangely, the packaging mentions that they're not meant for "extended use" on asphalt. I think they want you to use them only on natural surfaces; grass, packed earth, etc.
I hope Skinners makes an over-ankle version of these some day, that would be total perfection of the concept. As it is, my main issue is that they don't protect the ankle from ticks. If they got over the ankle and up the calf, you could douse the whole thing in permethrin and be pretty well covered against ticks.
